April 14: Yoga for Stress Management It is very difficult to define stress as it is a highly subjective experience and differs from person to person. However, one thing is certain that in modern times stress is an epidemic that is affecting the whole humanity in an adverse way. And stress is not related only to the work place. Even children, teenagers, college students and elderly people experience too much stress in their lives, which was not the situation a decade back. Stress affects us on physical, physiological and psychological levels and is damaging and potentially deadly for the personality if it lasts for a long period of time. It is not hard to see that it contributes to hypertension, heart attacks, ulcers, neck or low back pain and emotional depression and frustrations. It impairs the immune system, creates hormonal imbalances, and affects adversely the brain activity, making you more vulnerable to colds, allergies, fatigue, infections and mental-emotional depressions and tensions. Stress certainly diminishes one’s life force. The modern medical science and psychotherapy have developed certain tools and approaches for stress management. But we witness that over time stress has progressively increased indicating that these methods do not really work. The main reason is that modern science’s approach is not holistic. Yoga is a science of total health and harmony. Integrating the physical, physiological and psychological functions together, it aims to bring us closer to our true self. It does not overlook the need for a healthy body and mind to help us walk on the path of personal growth and evolution. It touches each and every aspect of our personality and infuses us with life force and willpower to live a life filled with happiness and contentment. Experience the beneficial effects of yoga with simple and integrated yoga practices that deal with the body, mind, emotions and psyche. The aim of this workshop is to provide lasting tools for stress management and to help you connect to the next higher level of your own evolution. Yoga is not gymnastics but a systematic approach to strengthen the body's immune system and to focus the mental emotional energy for an integrated development and holistic growth of the personality. All levels welcome. No prior knowledge of yoga is required. Please bring a warm shawl or blanket to cover yourself during relaxations. Fee $25 per lecture. Donations are encouraged to assist Swami Maheshananda’s travel and teaching around the world. Program Contact: Sonia – (202) 333 0430 Email:
